Dhaka, Aug 03 (V7N) – After a 12-day closure following the tragic plane crash, Milestone School and College in Uttara has reopened on a limited scale from Sunday. While academic activities have not yet resumed, the institution has begun efforts to restore normalcy through a memorial service and support initiatives for affected students and families.

The memorial program, organized in honor of those who lost their lives in the July 21 crash, marks the first public step by the institution toward healing. The event was attended by students, teachers, family members of the deceased, and injured individuals, reflecting a somber but united show of solidarity.

According to college sources, the campus has reopened to students from classes 9 to 12, though only on a limited basis. In the coming days, instead of the usual eight classes per day, only one or two classes may be held initially as part of a phased return to regular academic life.

To aid the emotional recovery of students and staff, counseling services have already been launched under the guidance of teachers. Additionally, the Bangladesh Air Force has set up a medical camp on campus, providing both physical and mental health support.

The crash, which occurred on July 21, involved a Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet that struck the school building and triggered a fire. The disaster claimed the lives of at least 20 people—many of them children—and the toll later increased, sending shockwaves throughout the nation. The following day, a national day of mourning was observed in memory of the victims.

As Milestone School and College begins the long road to recovery, authorities emphasize that safety, mental well-being, and compassion will be at the center of all future steps.
