DHAKA, Mar 11, (V7N) – The government today approved proposals to procure 1.80 crore litres of refined rice bran oil from local suppliers to stabilize the edible oil market, alongside major infrastructure and energy projects.

The decisions came at the 8th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase for 2026, chaired virtually by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

80 lakh litres under four packages at Tk 135.15 crore.

Suppliers: Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd., Green Oil & Poultry Feed Industry, Tamim Agro Industries Ltd., Prodhan Oil Mills Ltd.

Price range: Tk 167.50–169.75 per litre.

1 crore litres under five packages at Tk 170.41 crore.

Suppliers: Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd., Majumder Products Ltd., Tamim Agro Industries Ltd., Green Oil & Poultry Feed Industry.

Price range: Tk 170.25–170.75 per litre.

Officials said the procurement aims to ensure adequate supply of edible oil and support government distribution programmes.

The committee also recommended a variation proposal for the 1,490‑metre PC girder bridge over the Teesta River, connecting Panchpir Bazar (Sundarganj, Gaibandha) with Chilmarí upazila headquarters.

Contractor: China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. (CSCEC).

Revised contract value: Tk 443.68 crore, up from Tk 367.98 crore (20.57% increase).

Approval was also given for purchasing electricity from the gas‑based 2x120 MW Siddhirganj power plant, constructed by EGCB.

Buyer: Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

Revised levelized tariff: Tk 3.3664 per kWh.

Estimated procurement cost: Tk 23,880.02 crore.
