Dhaka, Apr 09 (V7N) – Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government, declared that Bangladesh holds ideas powerful enough to change the world, as he inaugurated the Bangladesh Investment Summit-2025 on Wednesday (April 9) at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital.
In an inspiring address at the summit’s official opening ceremony, Dr. Yunus emphasized the global potential of Bangladeshi entrepreneurship, citing microfinance as a prime example. “What started in a small village in Bangladesh is now one of the biggest business models in America,” he said, referring to the global success of microcredit.
Highlighting Bangladesh as a land of opportunities, Dr. Yunus remarked, “Doing business in Bangladesh means becoming a part of a global social business movement. It’s not just about profits—it's about transforming lives.”
Dr. Yunus described business as the most powerful structure for changing the world, stressing the value of social business in addressing global challenges such as carbon emissions, inequality, and poverty. “It is a heavenly feeling to change people’s fate while earning money together,” he said.
Calling the current global economic system self-destructive, the Nobel Laureate urged investors and entrepreneurs to join forces in building a new civilization rooted in sustainability and social impact.
“The young generation will not wait for the government,” Dr. Yunus said passionately. “They will change the world collectively. The time to take initiative is now.”
At one emotional moment in his speech, he reflected on the great liberation war of 1971, linking the spirit of independence to today’s quest for economic and social transformation.
The Bangladesh Investment Summit-2025, organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), began on April 7 but was officially inaugurated today by Prof. Yunus. The four-day conference brings together local and international investors, including delegations from top U.S. firms like Meta, Visa, Chevron, Boeing, and Uber, who have shown strong interest in enhancing the Bangladesh-US economic partnership.
As the summit unfolds, Bangladesh positions itself as not only a promising investment destination but also a hub for innovation, impact, and global change.
