Dhaka, Apr 09 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus presented the ‘Excellence in Investment Award’ to several institutions for their outstanding contributions to investment in Bangladesh. The awards were handed out during the official opening ceremony of the Bangladesh Investment Summit-2025 on Wednesday (April 9) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka.

Although the four-day summit, organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), began on April 7, it was officially inaugurated today by Dr. Yunus on the third day of the event.

Awards were presented in four categories, recognizing both domestic and international players:

  • Walton – Domestic Investor Category

  • bKash – Foreign Investor Category

  • Square Pharmaceuticals – Special Recognition

  • Fabrics Lagge – Special Recognition

In addition, the Chairman of the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) was awarded honorary citizenship for his special contributions to Bangladesh’s industrial and investment landscape.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Yunus praised the recipients for their vital role in driving Bangladesh’s economic growth and setting an example for sustainable and impactful investment. “These organizations are building more than just businesses — they are building Bangladesh’s future,” he said.

The awards reflect BIDA’s initiative to encourage innovation, resilience, and excellence in the investment sector as Bangladesh continues to strengthen its global economic presence.

The ongoing summit has already attracted wide international interest, including leading U.S. corporations, and continues to showcase Bangladesh as a rising hub for business and innovation.
