Dhaka, Apr 13 (V7N) – Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman has emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, highlighting that the army is committed to taking all necessary actions to ensure stability in the region.
General Zaman made these comments during a speech after the foundation stone laying ceremony of the International Buddhist Monastery in the capital on Sunday. He expressed that the event stood as an example of communal harmony, noting that it brought together people from diverse backgrounds in a spirit of peace.
The Army Chief also outlined his vision for the country, saying, "We want to build the country according to the principles of Buddha." He emphasized that harmony and mutual respect should be the cornerstone of national progress.
General Zaman shared a personal connection to the Chittagong Hill Tracts, mentioning that he had spent a significant portion of his youth in the region. Reflecting on his experiences, he urged that despite differing opinions, there must always be a respectful attitude towards one another, fostering an environment of peace and cooperation.
