Dhaka, Apr 19 (V7N)- Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that disciplinary action will be taken against police officers who fail to perform their duties, especially in light of allegations that police remain inactive during Awami League's lathi (stick) processions in various parts of the country.
He made these remarks during a visit to the Airport Police Station in the capital on Saturday morning (April 19).
Responding to public criticism over inaction, the advisor said, “If allegations are proven that the police are not taking action despite being on duty, they will face legal consequences.”
He further added that the government is considering measures to improve the working conditions of lower-ranking police personnel, including posting them within the same department for operational efficiency and personal convenience.
As part of his ongoing oversight initiative, the Home Affairs Advisor visited several police stations in the capital today. Earlier, he had conducted similar visits to police stations in various districts across the country.
