Dhaka, April 19 (V7N)- Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed firm optimism that the upcoming national elections will be the most credible and participatory in Bangladesh’s history, marking a milestone in the country’s democratic journey.

He made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday (April 19).

“The next national election will be the best election in the history of Bangladesh,” said the Chief Advisor. “It will be free, fair, and inclusive, and a model for the future.”

The ANFREL delegation included Executive Director Brija Rosales, Bangladesh Elections and Democracy Program Consultant May Butoy, Senior Program Officer Tharindu Aberatna, Program Officer Ayan Rahman Khan, and Program Associate Afsana Amei.

Professor Yunus reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to organizing elections between December 2025 and June 2026, adding that this electoral process will set a new standard for transparency and public trust.

ANFREL, a leading Asian civil society organization dedicated to electoral integrity and democratic reforms, welcomed the dialogue. The delegation emphasized that this meeting would further enhance their ongoing work in Bangladesh and reiterated their commitment to assisting all stakeholders to ensure transparent, inclusive, and credible elections.
