Dhaka, Apr 22 (V7N)- Religious Advisor to the Interim Government, Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain, has emphasized that marriage is a sacred and essential institution for preserving human dignity, fulfilling biological and emotional needs, and forming an ideal family. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a mass wedding ceremony for fatherless and financially insolvent couples, held at the Police Staff College (PSC) Convention Hall in Mirpur on Monday afternoon.
"People can escape from vices through marriage. There is no alternative to marriage for forming an ideal family and achieving mental peace," said Dr. Hossain, highlighting the spiritual and social significance of the institution.
He further noted that marriage is a divine tradition practiced by almost all prophets and messengers throughout history. “This consolidates a person’s faith and deeds,” he added. Referring to a Hadith, he said, “When someone gets married, he fulfills half of his religion. In the other half, he should fear Allah.”
In this heartwarming event, 60 underprivileged couples were married in a ceremony organized to support fatherless and economically challenged individuals. The families of the brides and grooms took part in finalizing the matches. The event was conducted in the presence of the newlyweds and their guardians, creating a joyous atmosphere filled with blessings and prayers.
The wedding sermon was delivered by Maulana Shah Mohammad Waliullah, Vice Chairman of ATN Bangla and a well-known Islamic scholar.
The mass marriage initiative reflects a growing movement to support vulnerable groups in society through community-based efforts, upholding the values of compassion, dignity, and religious harmony.
