Dhaka, Apr 26 (V7N)- Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, emphasized the urgent need to reach a national charter, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the nation’s brave martyrs.
Speaking at a meeting between the National Consensus Commission and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the LD Hall of the National Parliament on Saturday (April 26), Professor Riaz said,
"We are indebted to those who created this opportunity for us. This opportunity must not be missed under any circumstances."
Highlighting the role of Jamaat-e-Islami during the last 16 years under what he termed a "fascist regime," Riaz noted,
"The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami fought with their lives and participated in the democratic struggle. For that, I congratulate you. We all have your support."
Professor Riaz pointed out that the interim government's initiative for state reforms is not just a governmental move but "the result of the long-standing aspirations of the people of Bangladesh." He stressed,
"Our efforts aim to capture the aspirations of the nation. Our goal is one. The success of all of us depends on the sincere efforts of all of us."
The meeting was moderated by Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor. Among those present were Commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, and Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.
The National Consensus Commission continues its dialogue with various political groups to form a broad agreement on crucial reforms and a national roadmap for Bangladesh’s future.
