Mymensingh, May 05 (V7N) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has firmly stated that there will be no scope for day-night vote manipulation in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election, assuring the public of a free, fair, and impartial electoral process.
The CEC made these remarks on Monday morning at a meeting held at the Mymensingh City Corporation auditorium focused on voter list updates and preparations for the upcoming national election.
“This time, the Election Commission is committed to conducting a fair election,” said CEC Nasir Uddin. “We will not allow any kind of vote rigging, and no decisions are made individually—all decisions are made collectively by the commission.”
He also emphasized that the Election Commission (EC) will remain outside any political controversy, reiterating the importance of neutrality in the electoral process.
Clarification on Ishraq Hossain's Oath
In response to questions from journalists about the oath-taking of newly elected Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Ishraq Hossain, the CEC clarified that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Local Government, not the Election Commission.
“The EC has no role in the oath-taking process. That responsibility lies solely with the Ministry of Local Government,” he stated.
The meeting was chaired by Regional Election Officer Shahinur Islam Pramanik and attended by Upazila election officers and staff from Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Tangail, and Kishoreganj districts.
