Dhaka, May 20 (V7N) – Popular film actress Nusrat Faria has been transferred to Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail in Gazipur following a court order in connection with an attempted murder case filed under Bhatara Police Station.

She was brought to the prison in a prison van around 2:30 PM on Monday, confirmed Senior Jail Superintendent Kawalin Nahar.

Earlier in the day, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque ordered that Nusrat be sent to jail after her bail petition was opposed by the state prosecution. The court also set May 22 for the next bail hearing and directed the investigation officer to submit a report on whether Nusrat Faria was outside the country at the time of the incident, and whether she made public posts in support of the movement in question.

Before the hearing, Nusrat Faria was brought to the courtroom under tight security. She wore a bulletproof vest, helmet, and a white face mask. Upon being brought to the second floor of the court around 10:00 AM, she briefly removed her helmet and mask, appearing visibly stressed as she stood silently in the dock for several minutes.

The case stems from the anti-discrimination student movement, during which a student named Enamul Haque was allegedly shot in the leg on July 19, 2024, in the Bhatara area. He later filed a case on May 3, 2025, naming 283 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 17 cultural figures. Nusrat Faria has been listed as accused number 207.

She was detained by Immigration Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday while attempting to travel to Thailand. She was later interrogated at the Detective Branch (DB) office before being officially shown arrested in the case.
