Dhaka, Jun 01 (V7N) – The Panel Forum, led by Mahmudul Hasan Khan Babu, has secured a sweeping victory in the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) election for the 2025–27 term, winning 31 out of 35 director posts.

Of the 31 seats won by the Forum panel, 25 were from the Dhaka zone and 6 from Chittagong, leaving only 4 seats for the rival Sammilit Parishad panel, led by Abul Kalam Azad.

High Voter Turnout Amid Tight Security

The election took place on Saturday (May 31) at a hotel in Dhaka, amid strict security and with enthusiastic participation from members. Out of 1,864 total voters, an impressive 1,631 cast their votes, registering an 87.5% turnout.

Voting was held from 8:00 AM to 5:15 PM, followed by vote counting in the presence of candidates and their representatives. The final results were announced around 11:30 PM.

Victory Speech and Commitments

Following the victory, Mahmudul Hasan Khan Babu expressed gratitude to the voters, saying, “This victory is dedicated to our members who have placed their trust in us.”

He pledged to:

  • Fulfill all election promises

  • Increase member engagement in BGMEA’s decision-making process

  • Ensure transparency and accountability within the organization

The newly elected board is expected to focus on tackling key issues in the garment sector, including global market challenges, labor welfare, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
