Dhaka, Jun 01 (V7N) – The trial of Sheikh Hasina for alleged crimes of indiscriminate genocide related to the July uprising is officially commencing, announced Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, Legal, Judicial and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page late Saturday night, Dr. Nazrul emphasized that the prosecution and investigation teams of the International Crimes Tribunal are working tirelessly to advance the genocide trial.

Accompanying his post was a poignant image of Shaheed Wasim’s father, remembering Chhatra Dal leader Wasim, one of the first martyrs of the July uprising. The advisor expressed hope that the long-awaited trial involving Abu Sayeed, Mughd, Wasim’s family, and the nation is finally beginning.

Dr. Nazrul said the trial will formally start with the filing of charges by the prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal. Importantly, the proceedings will be broadcast live across various media platforms, including BTV, ensuring transparency.

He assured the public that the tribunal will strictly follow all due legal processes, affirming a commitment to a fair trial.

“Inshallah, Sheikh Hasina and other accused will be found guilty through fair judicial proceedings,” he concluded.

This marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to address the crimes committed during the July mass uprising, with widespread public and media attention expected on the trial’s progress.
