Dhaka, July 24 (V7N) – The interim government has decided to retain party symbols in local government elections. The Advisory Council approved four amendments to the existing electoral law during a meeting held on Thursday (July 24) to facilitate this decision.
The session began with a condolence motion honoring those who lost their lives in the recent warplane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. A minute of silence was observed, followed by prayers for the deceased.
In addition to the legislative amendments, the Advisory Council also resolved to provide full government support to the families of the victims and the injured. The Ministry of Education has been tasked with coordinating with school authorities to assess and meet the needs of those affected.
Furthermore, the Council approved a proposal to grant state honors to the two teachers who died in the tragedy—Mahreen Chowdhury and Masuka Begum. It was also decided that special prayers will be held across all religious institutions on Friday (July 25), seeking forgiveness for the deceased and recovery of the injured.
