Narayanganj, July 26 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that any Bangladeshi citizen found illegally residing in India will be repatriated through proper procedures, but no Rohingya refugees currently living in India will be accepted under any circumstances.
His remarks came during a visit on Saturday morning to the Narayanganj police lines, RAB-11 office in Siddhirganj, and the BGB-62 battalion headquarters in Jalkuri, where he also spoke to journalists.
“The manner in which India is pushing people across the border is unacceptable and must be condemned,” said the advisor, responding to questions about recent cross-border developments.
Addressing issues related to the July uprising, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury acknowledged that many individuals have been falsely implicated in various cases. “This has slowed down the investigation process. We are taking special care to ensure that no innocent individuals are harassed,” he stated, adding that charge sheets will be filed once proper investigations are completed.
Regarding the upcoming national elections, he said, “Law enforcement agencies are conducting intensive drives to recover illegal weapons across the country, including those looted during the coup, to ensure peaceful and fair elections.”
