Kuala Lumpur, Aug 12 (V7N) — Dr. Muhammad Yunus held a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur on the second day of his official visit.
Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Dr. Yunus with a red carpet reception and guard of honour at his office in Putrajaya before the two leaders held a private meeting.
During the visit, Bangladesh and Malaysia signed five memorandums of understanding covering cooperation in the halal ecosystem, defense, energy, higher education, and links between the Foreign Service Academies of both countries.
The leaders also discussed a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, including resolving complications surrounding the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia, enhancing trade and commerce, defense cooperation, energy security, agricultural collaboration, maritime economy, and addressing the Rohingya refugee crisis. They further explored avenues for joint efforts within ASEAN and other international platforms.
