Dhaka, Aug 16 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor (Retd) Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the upcoming national election will be held on the date announced by the Chief Advisor, and there is no chance of postponement if the people are election-oriented.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the agricultural market in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, on Saturday.

Admitting that extortion is prevalent in Mohammadpur and Mirpur, the Home Affairs Advisor warned that no extortionist would be spared. “Whoever is the extortionist will not be spared,” he said firmly.

On the election issue, Jahangir Alam stated, “The election will be held as per the date announced by the Chief Advisor. We have no say over what Sir said. The power is in the hands of the people—if the people are election-oriented, then no one can stop the election.”

When asked about allegations of extortion involving one of the advisors, he declined to comment.
