Dhaka, Aug 19 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested the asset and liability details of 17 senior officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to investigate allegations of wealth accumulation beyond their known income sources.
ACC Director General Md. Akhter Hossain announced the decision at a press conference at the commission’s head office on Tuesday. He said the ACC will take necessary measures to issue orders for submission of accounts in accordance with Section 26(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Rule No. 17 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Rules, 2007.
The officials under scrutiny include Tax Commissioner MM Fazlul Haque, Commissioner of Tax Appellate Tribunal Lokman Ahmed, Additional Tax Commissioners Sahela Siddique and Md. Mamun Mia, Additional Commissioner Hasan Tariq Rikabder, Joint Tax Commissioners Monalisa Saharin Sushmita and Md. Morshed Uddin Khan, Excise Commissioner Md. Shihabul Islam, and several other senior NBR members.
The ACC had first announced the investigation into these officials in July.
