Dhaka, Sep 04 (V7N) – The government has merged the Public Security Division and the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, reorganizing them into a single entity under the name Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday, signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid, on the orders of the President.
According to the notification, the merger has been made under the authority of the Rules of Business, 1996, amended through S.R.O. No. 358-Act/2025 in line with Article 55(6) of the Constitution of Bangladesh.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had been divided into two divisions in January 2017 for administrative convenience.

The Public Security Division oversaw the Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar and Village Defense Force, Coast Guard, International Crimes Tribunals, Investigation Agency, and National Telecommunication Monitoring Center.

The Security Services Division supervised the Immigration and Passport Department, Prisons, Fire Service and Civil Defense, and the Department of Narcotics Control.
With this latest restructuring, all these agencies and responsibilities will once again function under the unified Ministry of Home Affairs.
