Dhaka, Sep 05 (V7N) – The joint forces have arrested 131 people across the country in a week-long operation aimed at maintaining law and order.
According to an official statement, from August 28 to September 4, units under various infantry divisions and independent brigades of the Bangladesh Army, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, conducted operations in the capital and other districts.
The detainees include top-listed terrorists, robbers, illegal arms holders, drug dealers, smugglers, online gamblers, and drug addicts.
During the drives, law enforcers seized 20 illegal firearms, 845 rounds of ammunition, 49 cartridges, two magazines, as well as various locally made weapons used in terrorist activities. In addition, narcotics, walkie-talkies, bulletproof jackets, passports, mobile phones, stolen goods, and cash were recovered.
Authorities said the detainees have been handed over to the respective police stations for interrogation and further legal action.
