Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N) – The government is working to trace the huge sums of money laundered abroad during the tenure of the previous government, Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman has said.

He made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the BUP National Law Fest 2025 at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in Mirpur Cantonment on Sunday morning.

Citing international media reports, the Attorney General said that looters had siphoned off about Tk 19 lakh crore annually, which is equivalent to three national budgets. "The government is taking steps to bring back the laundered money," he assured.

Speaking on the Bar Council examination, he added that there was “no scope for cheating” in the process, which was being conducted with full transparency.

The organizers of the fest said the primary aim was to improve BUP students’ skills beyond academics, focusing on law practice, policymaking, public speaking, and inter-university collaboration.

This year’s event brought together around 400 students and 50 eminent judges from universities across the country.
