Dhaka, Sep 21 (V7N) – Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has said she intends to raise the issue of bringing electric buses onto Bangladesh’s roads at the upcoming advisory meeting in November. She added that the ministry has already been instructed to work on introducing electric buses as soon as possible.
She made the remarks while speaking at the third Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) workshop organized by the Department of Environment in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday afternoon.
This year’s NDC process includes a new initiative aimed at involving youth more directly in environmental and climate action.
However, Rizwana Hasan also expressed frustration over the country’s handling of waste management. She said that while investors are eager to pour money into mega projects, few show interest in waste-related initiatives.
“There is still no specific, comprehensive plan for waste management in the country,” she said, stressing that the Department of Environment will soon take several new steps to address the issue.
