Dhaka, Oct 12 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has announced that strict action will be taken against any person or group attempting to create unrest during the upcoming national elections, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and fair voting process across the country.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the core committee at the Secretariat on Sunday (October 12) morning, the Home Affairs Advisor said that 80,000 members of the armed forces will be deployed during the elections, while CCTV cameras will be installed at all risk-prone polling stations.
He stated that clear directives will be issued to election officials and law enforcement agencies to prevent any illegal activities. “No one will be allowed to act outside the law,” he said.
Referring to recent unrest in the hill tracts, the Advisor remarked that “fascist intellectuals” had previously incited chaos in the area, but the situation there is now calm and stable.
He further noted that individuals who served in the 2014, 2018, and 2024 national elections would be restricted from holding key responsibilities in the upcoming polls to ensure neutrality and transparency.
The Home Affairs Advisor added that training programs for law enforcement agencies are already underway, with around 150,000 police personnel set to receive specialized election security training aimed at maintaining order and preventing violence during the electoral process.
