On Monday, December 25, Swadhinata Sangsad presented Abdur Rahman Jahangir, special correspondent for United News of Bangladesh (UNB), with the Victory Day Sommanona Award-2023.
Sixteen individuals received awards in various areas, such as business, journalism, literature, music, culture, and the arts, for their achievements to their respective fields.
The prize was given to Abdur Rahman Jahangir in recognition of his exceptional contributions to Bangladeshi journalism for twenty years.
The recipients received their honors during a ceremony and discussion program at a city hotel, which was presided over by poet and additional director of Bangladesh Bank Hasina Mamtaj.
Among those in attendance were Aminur Rahman, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-ops (LGRD); Engineer Mohammad Hossain, Director General of Power Cell and Chairman of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB); Sunirmal Mondal, Executive Officer of the IEB; Vice President Ali Ashraf Akhand of Swadhinata Sangsad; and Secretary General Sahed Ahmed.
A non-political social, cultural, and intellectual organization, Swadhinata Sangsad was founded in 1991 and has been working in several capacities to instill in the younger generation the spirit of the Liberation War.
Additionally, the group honors notable nationals for their contributions to their fields with the Victory Day Sommanona Award each year.
