Dhaka, Nov 24 (V7N)- Advisor Sharmin S. Murshid has said that without structural reforms within the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, it will not be possible to take a strong and effective stance against violence.
She made the remarks at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday morning (November 24), marking the upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 2025.
The advisor said that the infrastructure damaged during the previous fascist government cannot be restored within a year, calling it unrealistic to expect such rapid change.
She added that there is no established ministry structure at the upazila and union levels, which severely limits the ministry’s ability to combat violence against women and children across the country. “To take effective action in those areas, the ministry must be expanded,” she emphasized.
Sharmin S. Murshid also announced that the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women will be observed for 16 days, from November 25 to December 10, 2025.
