Dhaka, Nov 24 (V7N)- Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has sought the full support of the Commonwealth for the 13th National Parliament elections, scheduled in the first half of February.

He made the request during a meeting with Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwe at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday. Dr. Yunus thanked the Secretary-General for her interest in the election process and reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to hold free, fair, acceptable, and festive elections.

Shirley Botchwe assured Bangladesh of the Commonwealth’s full support for the elections and post-election transition, confirming that several observation teams will be deployed ahead of the polls.

The meeting also discussed progress on the ‘Three-Zero Vision’, focusing on reducing unemployment, carbon emissions, and inequality through youth development, entrepreneurship, expansion of social businesses, and the country’s commitment to the UN’s vision of reducing poverty and inequality.
