Dhaka, Nov 25 (V7N) – A special meeting of the Advisory Council is underway to grant both in-principle and final approval to the draft of the Referendum Ordinance 2025. The meeting began at 11 am, chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Earlier, on November 20, the Advisory Council approved the Referendum Act in principle. The government has already announced its decision to hold a national referendum on the day of the 13th National Assembly election, seeking public opinion on the reform proposals recommended by the National Consensus Commission.

To formally conduct this referendum, a new ordinance is required. At the time of the initial approval, the government had stated that the Referendum Ordinance would receive its final endorsement within a few working days.

Today’s special meeting has been convened precisely for that purpose—to finalize and approve the Referendum Ordinance 2025, paving the way for its implementation.

Further details are expected upon completion of the meeting.
