Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) has organized a mock voting exercise in the capital ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election and referendum. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, who inspected the process, said that the government and the EC will jointly conduct the referendum campaign. Alongside the EC, the Ministry of Information and Culture has also been tasked with publicity activities.

The mock voting began at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government High School at 8 am today (November 29) and will continue until 12 noon.

During the inspection, the CEC said the Commission is working closely with law enforcement agencies to maintain a fair electoral atmosphere. Although he acknowledged the possibility of isolated incidents, he reaffirmed that the EC is committed to ensuring a peaceful and fair environment on election day. He also stated that the national election schedule will be announced in the second week of December.

EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed explained that since the National Parliament election and the referendum will take place on the same day, this mock voting has been arranged to better understand the full process and identify potential challenges. He said the results of the exercise will guide decisions regarding the number of polling stations, the need for adjustments, and whether additional manpower or facilities will be required.

The EC hopes that this preparatory measure will help ensure a smooth and efficient voting experience for citizens across the country.
