Natore, Dec 06 (V7N) — Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan on Saturday said that saving the country’s sugar industry requires not only subsidies but also regular and effective investment, which can come from both domestic and foreign sources.

He made the remarks while visiting Uttara Ganabhaban in Natore and inspecting the sugar mill, including participating in a tree plantation program inside the mill premises.

The industry advisor said that it is not possible to sustain any industry in the long term through subsidies alone. “Alongside support, continuous investment is essential to bring the sugar industry to a profitable and sustainable level,” he said, adding that the government is making all-out efforts to revive the sector.

Adilur Rahman Khan also informed that an advisory council meeting is scheduled to be held at the historic Uttara Ganabhaban in the near future, although the final date has not yet been fixed.

Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen, Superintendent of Police Abdul Wahab, and senior officials from the local administration were present during the visit.
