Dhaka, Dec 19 (V7N)- The death of Inqilab Manch spokesman Sharif Osman bin Hadi has cast a deep shadow of mourning across the country. In response to the tragic incident, the interim government has announced a state mourning day on Saturday, December 20.
The US Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday expressed deep condolences over the death of the young leader. In a condolence message posted on its verified Facebook page, the embassy said, “The US Embassy stands in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and expresses its deepest condolences on the death of young leader Sharif Osman Hadi. We extend our sincere sympathies to his family, friends, and supporters.”
Sharif Osman bin Hadi passed away at 9:30 pm on Thursday (December 18) while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.
His death has triggered a wave of grief both at home and abroad. Following the news, protests and sit-in demonstrations were reported from different parts of the country, including Shahbagh in the capital.
Osman Hadi was critically injured in a shooting attack on December 12 and was initially hospitalized in Dhaka before being flown to Singapore for advanced medical treatment. Despite extensive efforts by doctors, he could not be saved.
