Dhaka, Dec 19 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and several key locations in the capital ahead of the arrival of the body of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who died while undergoing treatment in Singapore.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam confirmed the deployment to the media on Friday afternoon.

He said BGB members have been stationed in the civil aviation area, domestic terminal, airport inner roundabout, and surrounding locations to prevent any untoward incident during the arrival of Hadi’s body.

In addition to the airport area, BGB has also been deployed at Karwan Bazar, Hotel Intercontinental, Jamuna area, and other important points across Dhaka as part of heightened security measures.

Heightened Security Amid Tense Situation

Law enforcement agencies have strengthened security across the capital following the news of Osman Hadi’s death late Thursday night. Authorities described the overall situation in Dhaka as tense, prompting precautionary measures to maintain law and order.

Background

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot on December 12 by assailants riding a motorcycle while he was on his way to a public meeting in the Bijoynagar area of the capital. The bullet struck his head, leaving him critically injured.

He was initially treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later admitted to Evercare Hospital for advanced care. As his condition deteriorated, he was airlifted to Singapore for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, Hadi passed away on Thursday night while undergoing treatment.

Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding the funeral arrangements or subsequent proceedings.
