Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N)- A high-level meeting to review the country’s overall law and order situation was held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday (December 21), chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Home Affairs Adviser Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, and senior officials from various security and law enforcement agencies.
Key issues discussed included the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the country, as well as security arrangements for the upcoming Christmas and English New Year celebrations.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the investigation into the murder of Inqilab Manch spokesperson and July fighter Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, along with steps taken to arrest those responsible.
Police officials informed the Chief Adviser that 31 individuals have been identified through video footage on suspicion of involvement in recent attacks on the offices of two national daily newspapers and two cultural organizations.
So far, six suspects have been arrested from different parts of the country, including Dhaka. The arrested individuals are Md. Kashem Farooqui, Md. Saidur Rahman, Rakib Hossain, Md. Naim, Md. Sohel Rana, and Md. Shafiqul Islam. Law enforcement agencies said operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining identified suspects.
Additionally, three individuals involved in attempting to create unrest near the residence of the Assistant High Commissioner of India in Chattogram have been identified using video footage.
At the meeting, the Chief Adviser directed law enforcement agencies to ensure the swift arrest of those involved in Osman Hadi’s murder and other unlawful activities.
He emphasized that maintaining law and order at any cost is crucial ahead of the upcoming national elections.
