Dhaka, Dec 23 (V7N)- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said that the Bangladesh Police are fully committed to ensuring a fair, peaceful, and festive 13th National Parliament Election and referendum.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (December 23) at a meeting on election management attended by divisional commissioners, police commissioners, deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, and senior officials of field administration and law enforcement agencies.
The IGP said that maintaining law and order, crime control, and overall security through integrated administrative and police measures is a traditional responsibility of the police, and there will be no deviation from this duty during the upcoming elections.
“On behalf of the Bangladesh Police, I assure the Chief Election Commissioner and all Election Commissioners that we have the capacity and determination to conduct this election successfully, beautifully, and peacefully with our full strength,” the IGP said. “You can place your trust in us.”
He also emphasized the need for continued cooperation from the Election Commission in taking strict measures to maintain stability.
Referring to recent disruptions, the IGP said it was time to stop attempts by various groups to create unrest through trivial demands, road blockades, and highway obstructions.
“If we fail to establish order everywhere, it will not be possible to provide comprehensive support to the Election Commission in conducting the elections,” he added.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among administrative and law enforcement agencies to ensure a secure and orderly electoral environment ahead of the February polls.
