Dhaka, Jan 05 (V7N)- The Election Commission (EC) has begun the appeal process for candidates in the 13th National Parliament election, allowing not only those whose nomination papers were canceled but also those whose papers were declared valid to raise objections.

EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told reporters on Monday (January 5) that the appeals process officially started today. Ten regional booths have been set up at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, to facilitate filing of appeals.

Candidates, banks or financial institutions, government service providers, or anyone authorized in writing by the candidate can submit an appeal to the EC until 5 pm on January 9.

The appeals hearings will be held at the Election Building auditorium from January 10 to January 18, during which the Commission will review and resolve all objections raised against both acceptance and cancellation of nomination papers.

This process ensures that candidates have a formal opportunity to contest the Returning Officer’s decisions, maintaining transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
