Dhaka, Jan 16(V7N)- Today, Friday (January 16), Muslims across the country are observing the holy night of Shab-e-Meraj, one of the most significant and sacred nights in Islam, through prayers, worship, and religious devotion.
According to Islamic belief, on the night of the 26th of the month of Rajab in the Hijri calendar, Almighty Allah bestowed the beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) with the miraculous journey known as Isra and Miraj. On this blessed night, the Prophet (PBUH) was taken from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, and from there ascended to the heavens by divine command.
Islamic history states that the Prophet (PBUH) traveled on a special heavenly mount known as Buraq and visited several sacred places, including Sidratul Muntaha, Baitul Ma'mur, and the rivers of Paradise. During this miraculous journey, the obligation of five daily prayers (Salat) was prescribed for the Muslim Ummah.
Because of this extraordinary event, Shab-e-Meraj holds immense spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide.
On this night, devout Muslims engage in various acts of worship, including reciting the Holy Quran, performing nafl (voluntary) prayers, offering special supplications, and seeking forgiveness and closeness to Allah Almighty.
Mosques across the country have arranged special prayer sessions, while many believers are observing the night at home in devotion, reflecting on the teachings and message of the Miraj.
