Dhaka, Jan 19 (V7N) — The US Embassy in Dhaka has announced that starting January 21, 2026, Bangladeshi citizens applying for a US B1/B2 visa for business or tourism purposes will be required to submit a visa bond of up to US$15,000.
The announcement was made via the embassy’s official social media account on Monday. The embassy clarified that the new condition does not apply to holders of valid B1/B2 visas issued before January 21, 2026.
According to the notice, the bond cannot be paid before the visa interview, and any advance payment does not guarantee visa approval. Applicants are also warned against using third-party websites that may be fraudulent. Any money paid prior to the interview is non-refundable.
The embassy further stated that the bond amount will be refunded if all visa conditions are followed properly after approval.
This new requirement aims to ensure compliance with US visa regulations and is applicable to all Bangladeshi citizens seeking business or tourism travel to the United States.
