Faridpur, Feb 10 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (retd) Jahangir Alam on Tuesday said there is no fear regarding the upcoming elections, noting that the number of law enforcement personnel deployed this year is unprecedented.

He made the remarks while speaking to media personnel in the conference room of the Faridpur District Commissioner’s office on Tuesday (February 10). On the same day, he held a meeting with the returning officers of Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Shariatpur, and Rajbari districts, along with other administration officials, and representatives of the army, coast guard, BGB, RAB, police, and Ansar.

The advisor said, “If any kind of violence occurs on election day, you will understand the level of preparation the administration has taken. Not everything can be disclosed; some things remain confidential.”

Referring to previous elections, Jahangir Alam said, “You have seen the violence that occurred in past polls, but this time, God willing, no such incidents have been reported so far. I hope it will remain that way.”

He also added that the Election Commission has clarified rules for journalists regarding the use of mobile phones to monitor the voting process.
