Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N)- Tajul Islam has been removed from the post of Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, with Aminul Islam appointed as his successor.

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification confirming the change on Monday (February 23).

Aminul Islam is widely known for serving as a lawyer for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for many years. He also gained prominence as a defense counsel in the BDR murder case.

Earlier, the Law Ministry had appointed Tajul Islam as Chief Prosecutor on September 5, 2024. He was tasked with prosecuting crimes against humanity linked to the July Movement, as well as cases of enforced disappearances and killings reported during the tenure of the Awami League government across the country.
