Kishoreganj, Mar 21 (V7N) – One of the country’s largest Eid-ul-Fitr congregations was held at the historic Sholakia Eidgah Ground, drawing lakhs of devotees and turning the vast into a sea of people.

The congregation took place at 10:00 am on Saturday, marking the 199th Eid Jamaat at the iconic venue. The prayers were led by Mufti Abul Khair Muhammad Saifullah.

Following the prayers, special munajats were offered seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the country, the nation, and the world.

As per long-standing tradition, the congregation began with ceremonial gunshots. Three blank shots were fired 15 minutes before, two shots 10 minutes before, and one shot 5 minutes before the start of the prayer, signaling devotees to prepare.

To facilitate travel for worshippers, Bangladesh Railway operated two special trains named “Sholakia Special”:

  • Sholakia Express-1 departed Bhairab at 6:00 am, reached Kishoreganj at 8:00 am, and returned at 12:00 noon, arriving in Bhairab at 2:00 pm.

  • Sholakia Express-2 left Mymensingh at 5:45 am, reached Kishoreganj at 8:30 am, and departed at 12:00 noon, arriving back in Mymensingh at 3:00 pm.

The historic Sholakia congregation once again reflected the deep-rooted religious tradition and unity of Muslims in Bangladesh, as devotees gathered in massive numbers to celebrate Eid in a spirit of faith and togetherness.
