Dhaka, Mar 25 (V7N)– Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said that the government is addressing the ongoing energy crisis with a sense of urgency comparable to a wartime situation, expressing hope that the steps taken will prevent any major disruption.
He made the remarks on Wednesday (March 25) at a briefing held at the Secretariat marking the government’s one-month anniversary.
The minister acknowledged that the energy situation has created instability and placed pressure on the government. He urged citizens to remain calm and avoid panic. “We request people to stay aware and not panic while dealing with the current situation,” he said.
At the same briefing, the Prime Minister’s Information Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman warned that some fuel pump owners are attempting to hoard oil in anticipation of a possible price hike.
He assured that the government is actively monitoring the situation and reiterated that there are no plans to increase fuel prices. “Those who are stockpiling oil expecting higher prices will not benefit,” he added.
The government continues to implement measures aimed at stabilizing the energy supply and preventing artificial shortages in the market.
