Jhenaidah, Apr 10 (V7N)– Attorney General Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal has said that the current government represents the anti-fascist spirit that emerged from the July mass uprising, adding that it is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people.

He made the remarks on Friday (April 10) while speaking to journalists after an exchange of views with local residents at the Kotchandpur Pilot High School grounds in Jhenaidah.

“The people expected to build an anti-fascist state through the July Revolution. The current government’s commitment to fulfilling that expectation is very clear,” the Attorney General said. “The government is moving forward to implement the spirit of July and has already formulated policies for the protection of July fighters.”

Referring to the verdict in the murder case of July martyr Abu Sayeed, Kajal said the tribunal delivered its judgment based on evidence. He emphasized that both the government and the accused have the right to appeal within 30 days.

“The aggrieved party should seek justice through the courts rather than reacting through the media,” he added.

Regarding the independence of the judiciary, the Attorney General said the government is committed to establishing a separate secretariat for the judiciary.

“The Law Minister has already clarified the government’s position in Parliament. We should have confidence in the government’s commitment,” he said.

He also noted that although the High Court has given a verdict on the matter, it is not final. “The issue will be settled after the disposal of the appeal in the Supreme Court,” he added.

The event was chaired by Kotchandpur Upazila BNP President Abdur Razzak. District Council Administrator MA Majid attended as special guest.

Among others present were District BNP General Secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona, District Bar Association President Advocate Ekramul Alam, and leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies.
