Dhaka, Apr 17 (V7N) – Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, has called for national unity to advance what he described as a “new Bangladesh” achieved through the sacrifices of the youth.
He made the remarks while attending the JCI Carnival at Madani Avenue on Friday (April 17) afternoon.
“This country is ours, so no one else can build it,” Fakhrul said, urging citizens—especially the younger generation—to work together in an environment free from authoritarian influence.
Highlighting the country’s progress, he said that despite economic challenges, a large population, and limited natural resources, ensuring food security for nearly 180 million people remains a significant achievement. He also credited the development trajectory to the path of multi-party democracy initiated under Ziaur Rahman.
Expressing concern over the negative impact of social media, Fakhrul advised young people to remain cautious of misinformation and confusion. He encouraged them to stay focused and proactive in shaping the nation’s future.
“The youth must move forward with new ideas and initiatives to build a prosperous Bangladesh without losing hope,” he added.
The BNP leader emphasized that the country’s future depends on unity, responsible leadership, and the active participation of the younger generation.
