Dhaka, Apr 19 (V7N) — The government has revised fuel oil prices at the consumer level, aligning them with the international market. The new rates will come into effect from Sunday (April 19), according to a statement from the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

New fuel prices

Under the revised pricing:

  • Octane: Tk 140 per liter

  • Petrol: Tk 135 per liter

  • Diesel: Tk 115 per liter

  • Kerosene: Tk 130 per liter

Increase of Tk 15–20 per liter

The latest adjustment reflects an increase of Tk 15 to Tk 20 per liter across different fuel types. Previously, diesel was priced at Tk 100 per liter, petrol at Tk 116, octane at Tk 120, and kerosene at Tk 112.

Reason behind the hike

The ministry said the decision was taken to maintain consistency with rising fuel prices in the global market. Officials indicated that the adjustment is part of an effort to stabilize the domestic energy sector amid ongoing international volatility.

The price hike comes at a time when consumers across the country are already facing fuel shortages and long queues at filling stations, adding further pressure on transport and daily expenses.
