DHAKA, May 3 (V7N) — Kazi Emdadul Hoque, a veteran administrative officer and former Tax Commissioner, has officially taken charge as the Director General (DG) of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI). The appointment was confirmed in a press release issued by the national standards body today.
A Distinguished Career in Governance

A senior officer of the 7th batch of the BCS (Tax) cadre, Hoque brings decades of administrative and financial expertise to BSTI. His career highlights include:

Taxation Leadership: He previously served as the President of the Taxes Appellate Tribunal, where he was instrumental in shaping the country’s tax adjudication processes.

Administrative Experience: Between 2001 and 2004, he served as the Private Secretary to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, gaining high-level experience in ministerial operations.

Economic Impact: As a former Tax Commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), he played a vital role in strengthening the nation’s economic and administrative framework.

Academic Excellence and Authorship

Beyond his bureaucratic service, Kazi Emdadul Hoque is recognized for his academic achievements and intellectual contributions. He secured First Class First in his M.Sc. from the Department of Soil, Water and Environment at the University of Dhaka.

He is also a noted author, particularly famous for his research-based book titled ‘Black Money’, which remains a widely discussed and cited work in the country's economic and legal circles.
Mandate at BSTI

As the new head of BSTI, Hoque is expected to lead the institution’s efforts in ensuring the quality of goods and services produced in Bangladesh.
