Dhaka, May 22 (V7N) – Members of Gulshan Society formed a human chain in the capital demanding justice for the rape and murder of child Ramisa in Pallabi.

The human chain was held at the Gulshan 2 Roundabout on Friday (May 22) morning.

Speakers at the program said that delays in the trial of rape and murder cases encourage the recurrence of such crimes. They demanded the swift completion of the trial process and the maximum punishment for those involved in the killing of child Ramisa.

The protesters alleged that perpetrators in similar incidents often escape punishment by exploiting loopholes in the legal system. They blamed prolonged judicial procedures for weakening justice and called for effective implementation of speedy trial measures.

The speakers also demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible for the brutal torture and murder of the child.

It is worth noting that police recovered the throat-slit body of Ramisa from a house in Pallabi on Tuesday (May 19). In connection with the incident, police accused Sohel Rana, a tenant of a neighboring flat, of the murder.

Later, law enforcement officials arrested Sohel Rana from the Fatulla area of Narayanganj. Following his arrest, he reportedly gave a confessional statement before the court. His wife, Swapna Akhter, was also arrested in connection with the case.
