Tangail, May 22 (V7N) – Multiple vehicle accidents and excessive traffic pressure have caused a major traffic congestion on the Dhaka–Tangail–Jamuna Bridge Highway, creating suffering for homebound passengers ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha holiday.
Traffic congestion was reported from early Friday (May 22) morning stretching from the eastern end of the Jamuna Bridge up to the Salla area, covering an approximately 7-kilometer stretch of highway.
According to Syed Riaz Uddin, Executive Engineer of the Jamuna Bridge Division, two separate accidents occurred on the bridge early in the morning. While recovery operations were underway, a queue of vehicles formed on the Dhaka-bound lane. A further accident around 7:30 am worsened the situation, delaying clearance efforts and extending the congestion.
The traffic jam has resulted in significant suffering for passengers traveling home ahead of Eid holidays. Authorities said efforts are underway to restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
