Tangail, May 26 (V7N)- Traffic movement remained slow on a 15-kilometer stretch of the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge Highway on Tuesday morning due to rain and increased vehicle pressure ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the Jamuna Bridge authorities, a total of 53,246 vehicles crossed the bridge over the last 24 hours. However, continuous rainfall and heavy traffic volume reduced vehicle speed significantly on the highway stretch from the bridge area to Rasulpur in Tangail.

As a result, traffic congestion developed at several points along the route, causing inconvenience to homebound passengers heading to northern districts for Eid celebrations.

Jamuna Bridge Executive Engineer Syed Riaz Uddin said the slow movement was mainly caused by rain and excessive traffic pressure during the early hours of Tuesday.

He added that the bridge authorities and police are jointly working to maintain normal traffic flow and ease congestion on the highway.
