The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, will be celebrated today in several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, following the sighting of the moon on Tuesday.

In Sadra Eidgaon field, the present Pir Mao of Sadra Durbar Sharif led the Eid congregation, with Mufti Zakaria Al Madani and other dignitaries joining the prayers. This tradition of observing Eid in conjunction with Saudi Arabia dates back to 1928 when Maulana Mohammad Ishaq, the then principal of Ramchandrapur Madrasa in Hajiganj, initiated the practice. Since then, residents of 40 villages in Chandpur, including Balakhal, Dakshin Balakhal, Nilam Balakhal, Sripur, Manihar, Barakul, and others, have been fasting and celebrating Eid a day earlier.

Similarly, followers of Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif in Chittagong's Matlab North Panchani, Baherchar Panchani, Aitadi Panchani, and other areas have adopted the practice of observing Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha in alignment with Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Sahebzada Baki Billah Mishkat Chowdhury, the son of the current pir of Sadra Darbar Sharif, emphasized that the decision to celebrate Eid is based on the sighting of the moon in accordance with the Qur'an and Hadith. He assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to observe the holy Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday.

This tradition reflects the deep-rooted religious practices and adherence to Islamic teachings among communities across various regions.
