Dhaka, Jul 15 (V7N)- Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Aminul Islam has said that the identities of all 1,400 martyrs of the July Uprising will be identified and those responsible for their deaths will be brought to justice.
He made the remarks after visiting the mass graves of July Uprising martyrs at the Rayerbazar Intellectual Cemetery in the capital on Wednesday (July 15) morning.
The Chief Prosecutor said information has been received that some bodies were allegedly dumped into rivers from hospitals during the July Movement. He said an investigation is underway into the matter and those involved will also face justice.
Aminul Islam further said that the investigation agency of the tribunal has discovered mass graves of those killed during the July Movement in areas including Matuail, Jurain, Narayanganj and Munshiganj.
He claimed that the actual number of deaths during the uprising may be higher than the figure reported by the United Nations. According to him, the tribunal's investigation agency is working to uncover the full details of the casualties and identify those responsible.
The Chief Prosecutor said efforts are continuing to collect evidence, verify identities and ensure accountability for the deaths linked to the July Uprising.
