Muslims commemorate Shab-e-Meraj, the night of Rajab 26 each year, as the time when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) set out on a unique trip to see Allah.

As the Prophet rode the "Buraq" to Heaven, Allah gave him certain instructions about the specifics of prayer that he was to relay to the followers back on Earth.

In mosques and houses, Muslims who are devout will offer special prayers in order to ask Allah's blessings for the well-being of their country and the Muslim Ummah.

According to a news statement from the Islamic Foundation (IF), the decision was made during a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram this evening. Md. Naib Ali Mandal, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, presided over the meeting.

The judgment states that Sunday, January 14, will mark the start of the month of Rajab.

Muslims will celebrate Shab-e-Meraj with great religious fervor on February 8th, the night of the Rajab moon of 1445 Hijri, as it was not visible anywhere in the nation on January 12th.
